VAT is applied to your orders in accordance with current legislation, based on the information in your account details.
If you believe that VAT should not be applied to your order, for example because your company is based outside the European Union or you reside outside the European Union, contact support to request verification. The procedure differs for companies and individuals.
Who can request verification
The procedure is available to both companies (legal entities) and individuals (natural persons). A different VAT treatment will only be applied if the verification is successful.
What documents to provide
If you are a company
For verification purposes, support may ask you to provide one of the following documents, updated for the calendar year in which you made the purchase:
- Tax residence certificate, issued by the competent authority in your country of residence.
- Extract from the company register, such as Companies House or an equivalent document, confirming the company's details.
If you are an individual
You do not need to provide the documents required for companies. Support will verify the information in your account details and the contact information associated with your account.
To proceed with the verification, support may ask you to provide an identity document or a document confirming your residence.
VAT exemption is subject to the successful completion of the above checks.
How long is the documentation for legal entities valid?
The documentation is valid for the calendar year in which it was issued, until 31 December of the same year, and covers purchases made during that period.
How to submit your request
- Open a support request.
- Under Request type, select Billing.
- If you are a company, attach one of the documents listed in the What documents to provide section. If you are an individual, support will provide you with instructions on how to complete the verification.
- Submit your request.
What happens after submitting your request
If the verification is successful, for an order that has already been invoiced, we will proceed with:
- Issuing a credit note for the original invoice.
- Issuing a new invoice with the correct VAT treatment.
If the verification is unsuccessful or the documentation provided is insufficient, the original invoice will remain valid. Support will inform you of the reason.
What to do for subsequent orders
If you are a company and have already provided documentation that has been verified and is still valid for the current year, you do not need to submit it again for subsequent purchases made during the same year.
If you are an individual, you must contact support and repeat the verification procedure for each new purchase.
