FAQs - ACME

You can only manage ACME if you have set up a default online payment method (PayPal or credit card) in your Customer area. 

Follow the instructions in the guide to set up a default payment method.

If you encounter an error when requesting a certificate, wait a few minutes and then:

  1. go to the company website and sign in to your Customer Area. For more details on how to sign in to the Customer Area, see the guide;
  2. select Dashboard;
  3. check if there is an order created after the date you received the error message. 

If you see an order: 

  1. check that the payment method set up in the Customer area has sufficient credit to cover the cost of the service. If not, top up the credit or replace the payment method with a valid one; 
  2. select Pay;
  3. check that the order has been paid;
  4. sign in to your server and relaunch the command to activate the SSL certificate with ACME.

If you do not see an order: relaunch the command to activate the SSL certificate with ACME.
 

To renew a certificate with ACME, check that a payment method has been set up. Follow the instructions in the guide to set up a new default payment method. 

When the certificate expires, if this condition has been met, the system witll automatically renew the service.

No, on the contrary. The ACME protocol is designed to enhance security and efficiency in managing SSL Certificates. It automates key processes such as issuance, renewal, and revocation without compromising security.

If you have already previously configured another ACME account:

  1. log in to the server where you need to install ACME; 
  2. open a command shell as root; 
  3. Run the command:sudo certbot unregister --server https://acme-api.actalis.com/acme/directory
  4. then run the command: 
    sudo certbot --nginx --server https://acme-api.actalis.com/acme/directory --eab-kid EAB Kid --eab-hmac-key <HMAC> --agree-tos -m TUACASELLAMAIL@NOMEDOMINIO.ESTENSIONE --no-eff-email -v --preconfigured-renewal

In this code, you need to insert:

  • the EAB Kid code you are currently using (and have already registered) 
  • your email address
