Entering a CSR you already have
- Select I already have a CSR file;

The Certificate covers both the domain with www and without www, regardless of how you have entered it.
Creating and entering a new CSR
- select Request a CSR file via the generator;
- press Confirm and continue;
- according to the type of Certificate you have purchased:
- for a Single Domain and for 1 website and all subdomains: the domain name you entered in the first step will be displayed;
- for Up to 5 domains: the list of domains entered in the first step will be displayed.
- select Generate CSR. The system will automatically download a compressed file: save it in a safe place and do not lose it because you will not be able to create it again. You will need this file when you install the Certificate.
- Press Continue.
The compressed file created by the generator will contain 2 files:
- domainname_csr.pem: is the CSR you will need to use when activating the Certificate, in provisioning form;
- domainname_private-key.pem: is the private key, that you will use to install the Certificate on the server hosting the domain, once the Certificate has been issued.
The CSR generator described in this guide is only for guidance in case you are unable use more specific tools.
In general, a good rule is to generate a CSR using tools and procedures recommended by the software supplier available on the web server (e.g. Apache, Nginx, Microsoft IIS, Oracle, IBM WebSphere, etc.) or other equipment (for example load balancer and firewall): this is because each software or hardware that supports SSL generates the Certificate in the format “best suited” to memorize the server key pair, that varies according the product.
